Mini Cows – Mini cows shown in pictures here are not only cute they are a greener and more sustainable way to raise cattle in our current economy.

Mini cows good for diet, economy, and environment

Mini Cows are nothing new. In fact they have been around for hundreds of years but they have gained popularity because they are more economical for farmers to raise.

The mini cow stands about waist high

These mini cows have grown in popularity and popularion by about 15,000 in the last 10 years and are becoming even more sought after because they eat less but produce almost as much meat.

Miniature cows can mean a healthier diet

The economical aspect of miniature cows is only a part of their growing popularity. Some people with smaller amounts of acreage are raising mini cows that would not have had grazing room for full sized cows.

As feed prices rise and provenance of cattle becomes a concern, more farmers are switching to mini cows which stand about waist high and eat only 50% of what full sized cows do. Miniature cows are primarily grass-fed meaning that the meat is leaner while containing more Omega 3 fatty acids for those looking for a healthier diet containing beef.

Some people are even raising their own mini cows for beef, milk, and pets. They have a lower cost to maintain because they weigh about 500 pounds as opposed to 1000 to 1300 pounds for full size bovine.

And that’s the latest chatter about Mini Cows.
