Felony Franks – Felony Franks is the brainchild of Chicago business man Jim Andrews and he hires only ex-convicts to run the hot dog stands.
Felony Franks slogans ‘So Good It’s Criminal’ and ‘Home of the Misdemeanor Wiener’ is Andrews way of lightening up a serious subject, especially in parts of Chicago where crime is rampant.
Some city officials have taken exception to Felony Franks, saying that the crime based theme is in poor taste.
Jim Andrews sees it differently and has vowed to expand the Felony Franks chain to other major cities and to hire only ex-convicts as employees.
On the menu are ‘burglar beef’ and the ‘chain gang chili dog’ that Jim Andrews says will erase some of the stigma that being an ex-con carries.
And that’s the latest chatter about Felony Franks.

I think this is a fun, interesting and innovative idea. I love the name too. Shame on those who won’t give Mr. Andrews the permit. It is absolutely ridiculous. I especially love the part where the people opposed said it’s glorifying crime, yeah, i had a chili dog now I think I’m going to go rob someone…..GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Give Mr. Andrews the damn permit.
For those opposed, It must be nice to sit in judgement of others, but let’s face it, it’s about time you got off your high horse and joined the real world. See it exactly for what it is. A crazy new idea, for a theme restaurant, that just might work.

I am a convicted felon, who resides in Iowa, and I think what Mr. Andrews is doing is a great thing. The stigma of felons is ridiculous. Believe it or not most of us are good people who made bad choices. And who hasn’t made a bad choice? The Almighty is the only one who has not made a bad choice. The felons are the unfortunate that were caught. If Mr. Andrews ever wants to expand I would be more than happy to open up a Felony Franks in Iowa. Especially if it gives a felon a second chance in life. Who doesn’t deserve a second chance. If the shoe was on the other foot wouldn’t you want a second chance? Think about it.
