Toxic 12 List – The Toxic 12 List is much talked about but hard to find so here is the list of Toxic Makeup ingredients to avoid by Susan Jeske former Ms America.

The Toxic 12 List reads like most makeup ingredient lists and may seem harmless, in fact most of us don’t notice the ingredient lists on makeup and cosmetics.
1. Benzoyl peroxide
2. DEA (diethanolamine) and MEA (monoethanolamine) and TEA (triethanolamine)
3. Dioxin
4. DMDM hydantoin and imidazolidinyl urea
5. Synthetic Colors and Pigments
6. Parabens (methyl, butyl, ethyl, propyl)
7. FEG (polyethylene glycol)
8. Phthalates 9xenoestrogens)
9. Propylene glycol and butylene glycol
10. Sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate
11. Sunscreen chemicals like avobensone, benzphenone and PABA
12. Triclosan
The FDA doesn’t want you to know about the Toxic 12 list because it has failed to control the use of these substances in products we use everyday like shampoo and other hair care products, commonly found makeup and cosmetics, and skin treatments and lotions.

Susan Jeske, in her presentation about ”The Impact of Toxins in Cosmetics and Personal Care Producsts and How to Avoid Them” she addresses:
- How the FDA is failing to protect our health when it comes to personal care products like shampoo, lotion, conditioner, moisturizer and make-up.
- Which cosmetic industry-funded panel is currently in charge of reviewing the safety of cosmetics, skin care and personal care item’s.
- The exact compounds that she calls, The Toxic Twelve List that puts you at the highest risk of biological mutation, reproductive complications, acute toxicity, tumors, skin and eye irritations.
- What makes cosmetics and skin care the least regulated consumer products on the market.
- The actual profit margin that cosmetic companies gain by using synthetic and toxic chemicals.
- What to look for on the label of your personal care products.
- The true industry definition of what can quality as “organic” and “natural.”
- Recommendations for products that are natural, organic, safe and beneficial.
- Susan also talks about ECOCERT Certification – an independent third-party certification for “natural” and “organic” claims from Europe.
Check the products you use everyday against the Toxic 12 List.

This is another reason why we need to survive off the land and learn how to protect ourselves. We should always try to have party gardens to make sure we are also having fun as live needs to protect oneself.

Great list. A good start. Thank you for bringing awareness to this issue.
Please be aware that phthalates are not listed on labels, but 83% of the time (EWG) they are hidden in the word “fragrance” or “parfum.”
Also, you can go to the cosmeticsdatabase.com to check the toxicity of your products…. NOT just the overall score, but the score and disease implications of each ingredient. The EWG has listed 52,000 products. Sadly there are hundreds and hundreds of additional toxic ingredients to this list of 12.
Ava Anderson, has launched the very first line of skin care and cosmetics where every ingredient in every product is a “0″ on the database. Hopefully, she can help you bring awareness to this issue. TIme for a change!

Eczema can be a serious problem if you do not take the time to treat it. Normally I have found natural cures to be much better when treating eczema. Mainstream medicines just are not that effective for curing eczema.
