Citizens Against Government Waste – Million of Americans are joining Citizens Against Government Waste which says it is America’s number one watchdog – Here is why.

Citizens Against Government Waste or CAGW is a private, non-partisan, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate waste, mismanagement, and inefficiency in the federal government.

CAGW was founded in 1984 by industrialist J. Peter Grace and syndicated columnist Jack Anderson. and has grown it’s membership for 5000 in 1988 to more than 1 million members today.

Don’t forget to check out the 2008 Congressional PIg Book Summary. This book identifies 1188 projects totaling $2.8 that symbolize the most blatent porky projects. To qualify as blatent pork, projects must meet at least one of the CAGW criteria:
- Requested by only one chamber of Congress
- Not specifically authorized
- Not competitively awarded
- Not requested by the President
- Greatly exceeds the President’s budget request or the previous year’s funding
- Not the subject of congressional hearings
- Serves only a local or special interest
Most examples in the Citizens Against Goverment Waste Pig Book meet at least two criteria.
At CAGW members can view pork projects by state, year, or representative. Vote for porker of the month and porker of the year. Learn how to get involved and help stop wasteful government spending. Donations are accepted but not required and CAGW claims that for every dollar donated, $9000 in taxpayer money is saved.
That’s the latest chatter about Citizens Against Government Waste.
