Coyote Attack – A third coyote attack was reported in just three days in the San Bernardino Mountains about 65 miles miles northeast of Los Angeles.

The coyote attack occured in Lake Arrowhead, California on Tuesday. Melissa Rowley stepped inside to put her camera away and returned to find her two year old being dragged out of the yard by a coyote. When she ran toward the coyote, it released the two year old and ran away.

Rowley took her daughter to a hospital after the coyote attack where she was treated for several punctures to the head and neck, and mouth. The 2 year old was then flown to Loma Linda University Hospital. Her injuries, while serious, are not life threatening.

Another report of a coyote attack occured on Friday when a caregiver pulled a 2-year-old girl from a coyote at Alterra Park in Chino Hills, a San Bernardino County community about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Again, the injuries were not life threatening but the child suffered puncture wounds to her buttocks and was treated at a hospital.

Another in a series of coyote attacks occured on Sunday when a coyote attacked another toddler in the same park. The child’s frantic father kicked and chased the coyote away. Alterra Park is near Chino Hills State Park, a natural open space of thousands of acres spanning nearly 31 miles.

Three coyote attacks in three days?  Yikes, maybe we’ll play inside today, sweetie.
