This detergent suicide is the latest in wave of suicides using the “rotten egg” smelling toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.

Internet sites in Japan provide the recipe and instructions on committing suicide by using hydrogen sulfide gas made from detergent and other chemicals.

In another detergent suicide, a 14-year old girl mixed laundry detergent and toilet bowl cleaner to produce the noxious, yellowish gas.

350 people were evacuated from the area to avoid the detergent suicide fumes.

The Oturo, Japan suicide is latest in a round of incidents in which people mixed detergent to produce hydrogen sulfide to kill themselves. The death toll has now reached over 50 people, some of those were innocent bystanders who inhaled the gas.

The detergent suicide recipe is used to produce hydrogen sulfide gas by mixing certain types of detergent with a particular type of bath powder, each of which are easily obtained.

Police officials in Japan are asking internet service providers to remove the detergent suicide recipe from websites.

Human life is precious and nothing is ever so bad that killing yourself is the only option.
