Oprah Winfrey Show Ending – The official announcement that the Oprah Winfrey Show is ending will come today on her broadcast on CBS November 20, 2009.

The Oprah Winfrey Show ending announcement shocks many fans who have watched the daytime show for almost 25 years.

The end of the Oprah Winfrey Show will be in late 2011, 25 years plus one day after her first broadcast. The future of the show is unknown, but some beleive there will be a new iteration of the Oprah Show on her own network – literally her OWN network – the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The popular daytime talk show started as a local morning show in Chicago and has since become the top rated talk show for more than 20 years, airing in 145 countries. The Oprah Show is seen by 42 million viewers per week in the US.
Harpo Studios launched the successful careers of the Dr. Phil Show and the Rachel Ray Show, not to mention the success of O Magazine and the Oprah Book Club.
The news that the Oprah Winfrey Show is ending comes as a blow to CBS who saw ratings drop 7% this year, but still counted on the Oprah Show for much needed viewers and revenue.

Kind of sad. I have a feeling though that the big O isn’t close to being done. She’s been working on quite a few other projects that she’s probably just waiting to start on.
